hmmm...where are we now?

i know, i know.... first utah, then virginia, now wyoming... but we promise we're staying put for now! matt is now working for rocky mountain power out of rock springs, so we'll FINALLY be able to plant some roots and buy our home! halle-freakin-lujah!

it's been awhile since i've updated and i promise to get better at it. traveling around has made it a little tough to get settled and online to update, but hey, i'm here now!

matt - see above.
lauryn - see above. :)
emmett - is almost 11 months now. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT. i know 'time flies,' 'they grow up so fast,' etc. but THEY REALLY DO!!!! i'll post some recent pics of him soon. he is my little man...my little talker...my little cuddlebug.

hope all is well with everyone and please drop us a line!

xoxo

st. george!

we've finally arrived in st. george. well, we've been here about a week or so, but still...WE ARE FINALLY HERE!!! the park we are in is super clean, neat and has a killer pool and spa! how could we resist?!?! plus the management here is superb. love it!

i wasnt sure what i'd think about SG, but it turns out it's not so bad. im not big on desert (and as most of you know, i'd prefer the BEACH), but the red rocks here make it really pretty. the people here are nice, the city life isn't too crowded and the best part is that we are only 20 min from zion, 1 1/2 hours from the grand canyon, 2 hours from vegas, and 5 hours from the OC!! hello. AWESOME!

the sucky part??? cockroaches. totally gross, but after the mouse incident, i'm cool with it. maybe they should have called this town st. cockroach since people pretty much invest in pest control here. we've done our best with the spray and so far so good. i haven't seen one yet. THANK GOD. ill keep praying that they stay away. :)

mouse. for real.

for real. seriously.

my little mouse story below OBVIOUSLY needs a new ending. or should be re-written. whatever. all i know is that THERE WAS A MOUSE. i was not wrong, people!!!!

so after 3 weeks of our trailer sitting at the dealer for service (people of utah!!! do NOT go to blaine jensen for service. they call it service, we call it crap! anywho...) we walk into the trailer and what are the words i hear come out of my sweet, loving husband's mouth??? 'UM...I SEE MOUSE POOP!'

huh?!?!?!

'no no,' i tell him. 'it was the branches, remember?!?!?'

riiiight. branches, my butt.

lo and behold, i peek over the where audrie and i originally heard the squeaks 4 week ago and hmm... mouse poop!

ever notice how they look like those chocolate sprinkles you put on your frozen yogurt?? anyway...

so begins the 48 hour long process of cleaning, sealing, steam cleaning the carpets, and setting traps. the only thing i could think of was contracting the Hantavirus. poor me, poor emmett. i'd say poor matt, but he believes he is invincible (as most men do. :) ). i don't do mice. they disgust me, gross me out, and i don't even like looking at a trap. just writing this makes me want to vomit.

ok, so long story short- i was right!!! ah, sweet, sweet victory! it took all the strength that i had not to point my finger at matt and say, 'i told you so.' we needed to work together as a team here and besides, why beat a dead horse? i am very careful to pick my battles anyway. :)

so now we have an uber clean place that is mouse poop free. the traps have been set for 5 days and so far no mouse. SO GOOD!

ah, the rodent-free life!

a visit with friends...

yesterday we drove up to logan to visit with some friends we hadn't seen for awhile. they had a baby girl 11 days after we had emmett. 11 days. maybe we should have named our son PAUL BUNYON.

sure annalee is a GIRL, but she's tiny! or our son is HUGE. 12 vs. 16 lbs. goodness.

p.s. daddy dressed me. ;) he said the red stripes match my hair, and the blue stripes match my eyes. and of course camo is his FAVORITE!!

fishin' & family

last week we spent some time with matt's fam. even though they only live 10 miles away, we don't get to see them often. grammy & grandpa hansen had a BBQ, and turns out there was a golden opportunity for a picture with four generations! Saaaah-weet!

after that lovely day, we decided to do some fishing up at lost creek (reservoir). we didn't catch anything except a few laughs and some mosquito bites. :( oh well, next time!

4 months!!!!

i can't believe my little man is 4 months already! totally nuts!

he had two milestones this month-
#1 he laughed! at matt of course, not me. go figure!
#2 he rolled over! i was such a proud mommy... i still am!

i took emmett in for his 4 month dr appt, and he now weighs 15lbs 8oz, and is 25 1/2" long. 75th percentile.

i just love him.

just sayin...

shouldn't education be about the kids, and not material possessions? shouldn't we be providing the teacher with the tools they need to make teaching successful, not taking them away?

there should be some serious re-organization, and distribution of school administrators!

movin' on up

YAY! we are leaving delta TODAY and headed back up north to morgan for a month. i am so happy at the thought of being home again and in one place for a little bit. :)

for those of you who don't know, matt has been working on a job in delta for the past 5 months. delta is located in west central utah...so it's hot and DRY. well, all of utah is dry, but delta is dry dry. not to mention, in the middle of NOWHERE. so yeah, we are all too happy to get out of here.

next stop will be st. george, which i am looking forward to... it's a real city! :) im going to enroll emmett in swimming lessons there, so stay tuned for those adventures!!

Eek. a mouse!

yes. i thought there was a mouse in the trailer.

3am - i wake up to the sound of SOMETHING rustling in the garbage. ew. i get chills just thinking about it. there was some serious movement going on in there. the first thing i thought was, "sh*t a mouse!" but then my paranoia set in... was it a snake, or tarantula, or scorpion (my list of creepy crawlies goes on...)?  i nudge matt HARD, so that he wakes up, and i tell him what i'd heard. he of course, thinks im crazy, since i think EVERY sound is something-- but this was FOR REAL.

then he heard it.

:)

my brave man went over to the trash and sifted through it. nothing! then we heard it again. he sifted through the bathroom trash. nothing! he felt a breeze and chalked it up to the fact that the wind was blowing some plastic bag around in the trash can. yeah, i know... but hey, he closed the vent and we never heard it again.

5am - i send matt out the door with some yummy lunch, check on emmett and get ready to lay back down. oh, but no! what do i hear?? SQUEAK! omg. omg. omg. i text my sister in law and BEGGED her to come over. so now i've got her listening to these squeaks with me. her brave soul checked the garbage and behind the couch-- everywhere we heard a squeak.

i wanted to vomit.

after an hour of listening, and tracking and searching we turn up with nothing. not even a drop of mouse poop. so, being the scaredy cat that i am, i spent the WHOLE day at her trailer until my brave man came home from work.

the note i left him: "@ audries. mouse in house!"

he gets home and i make him sit still and listen for the infamous squeak. one minute passes, two minutes pass. SQUEAK! HE HEARS IT! thank goodness. im not as crazy as i seem, right? HE HEARS IT AGAIN!!! yes!!! i am so happy that i am not going crazy!!! he searches everywhere that audrie and i had looked. up and down, in and out...nothing. what the...

then matt gets this look on his face. the one that says, "you are SUCH a city girl. what am i going to do with you?" he gets up, goes outside, climbs on the roof and...

breaks the branches off the tree so that it stops scratching against the window.

i know. i know.

bless his heart for having to deal with me. :)

e's 1st 'thing'

i've been counting down the days til emmett's first laugh. his first rollover. his first tooth. okay, well not so much the tooth thing, since i've heard it's accompanied by alot of drooling, crying and chewing, but hey, it's a first! i was DISAPPOINTED yesterday when i found out his first 'first' was PINKEYE. um, hello? how is that a joyous occasion?! talk about being blindsighted! i was NOT expecting that one...

boo. :(

Emmett's 1st trip to CA

oh boy...what an adventure! i can't even tell you HOW nervous i was to take emmett on his very first plane ride. i panicked about panicking. i obsessed about how i was going to take emmett out of the carseat, hold him, fold up the stroller with one hand, and get through security without having a million people behind me thinking, "come on lady, get your act together and move it!" i could see myself starting to sweat and turn bright red. little did i know my child would be an absolute angel before, during and after the flight-- what a blessing from above (and thanks to a wonderful sister-in-law)!!

our 10 day trip started with a family and friends bbq held at my loving parents house. they put so much time and effort to make it all happen while i was in utah. aren't they great?!?! we had about 60 people come by to meet my little cutie pie, and chow down on some tacos and margaritas...yum! it was so so so great to see everyone that i haven't seen since i was pregnant. i just wish i could have spent more time catching up with them...

some other trip highlights:

baked potato night at Aunt Julie's, with some great friends

1st trip to the ocean! too bad he slept though it all... :)

visits with family
and just plain looking CUTE!!!
so great seeing everyone! we've really missed you and can't wait to come back.
...and remember, if you are ever in Utah, you'd better give us a shout and come stay with us!!!!
xx
